THE BEATLES' STORY ON CAPITOL RECORDS (2 Volumes) by Bruce Spizer (2000)

375.00

New Orleans: 498 Productions, 2000. First Edition. Hardcovers. Tall quarto. 2 Volumes. Glossy pictorial boards, issued without dust jackets. Foreword by Alan Livingston, President of Capitol Records, 1962-1968. xiii + 226; viii + 264 pages, color and b/w photos throughout both volumes. Long out of print. Both volumes in near fine condition.

This two volume set tells the story of Beatlemania in America and provides complete information on the marketing of the singles (vol 1) and albums (vol 2), and shows all picture sleeves, album covers, and label variations in full color. The book offers the most comprehensive coverage ever on the infamous butcher cover from the "Yesterday And Today" album, which was judged so offensive that it had to be recalled and destroyed. A landmark work.
