HIGH PRIEST OF CALIFORNIA [bound with] WILD WIVES by Charles Willeford (Beacon, 1956)

175.00

Beacon, 1953. First Edition Thus. B130. Retains 1953 copyright date (from original 'Royal Giant' edition) though this edition was printed in 1956. Mass market paperback. Tiny speck missing from upper right corner, otherwise a very nice copy in near fine condition.

No woman could resist his strange cult of lechery! "Russell Haxby knew just what to do with burning-blonde beauty. He knew exactly the things that make big girls happy. He even knew ways to take care of left-over husbands - like the one Alyce kept locked up in a secret room." Originally published by Royal Giant in 1953 (along with Talbot Mundy's 'Full Moon'), this is considered the second edition of High Priest but the first printing of Wild Wives (Willeford's original title was 'Death Takes a Bride' but Beacon changed it). Willeford's name is misspelled on the cover here, but correct on the title page.
