Kishangarh, Rajasthan: no date (modern). [#018] Gouache painting on recycled paper. This image may be a representation of Shiva with 4 arms and a fanged serpent for a lower body. He is holding what appears to be a bowl of fire. In the background are what appear to be words or phrases in Devangari script, possibly more decorative than textual. The size of this image is approximately 8 x 6 inches including margins. Some darkening and a few wrinkles, mainly to margins, probably from the painting process. Very good.

His body of work is based on the artistic styles found in bazaars in his community and inflected by his idiosyncratic taste for sensational images of tantric art. He paints images of tantric goddesses, circular yantra designs, astrological images, various body parts used for divination (hands and feet),and more.
