This work is concerned with the chief myths as they are recorded in the texts of the earlier and more creative periods of Egyptian history. The chief sources are the Pyramid Texts and the Coffin Texts. The Coffin Texts are the earliest and most intelligible version of many sections of the Egyptian Book of the Dead.
