Gillette, NJ: Heptangle Books, 1977. First Edition. Hardcover. Tall octavo. Limited to 450 hand-numbered copies. This is copy #309 and is signed by Daniel J. Driscoll. Light green cloth over green and white patterned boards. Paper spine label. As is often the case, this copy lacks the rare transluscent dust jacket. Title page in red and black inks. Beautifully printed in letterpress with red, black and blue inks. xxv + 111 pages. Illustrated with seals and sigils. Somewhat scarce. Small corner missing from spine label, rubbing to boards and wear to corners. Old price sticker 'ghost' on front pastedown. A very good copy.

The Sworn Book (Liber Juratus) is one of the oldest and most influential texts of Medieval magic. It is believed that the text was compiled to help preserve the core teachings of the sacred magic, in the face of intense persecution by church officials. This is the true first Heptangle printing of this grimoire, and the first attempt at an English translation. Scholars have often noted that Driscoll's version of the Sworn Book is incomplete and innacurate in places, as well as stating that he took some serious liberties with the texts, etc. That being said, this work remains a fine example of the book publisher's craft. It is a beautiful volume.
