[LENNON, John] The Daily Howl (Reproduction)
No publishing information. No date [2003]. Illustrated stapled wrappers. Small octavo. 8 pages (back page blank). Facsimile, not an original work. Text and illustrations by Lennon. With a small b&w photograph of Lennon. Fine condition.
As found. I believe that this originally accompanied a book called John Lennon Legend: An Illustrated Life by James Penter which included other bonus ephemeral materials. It is offered here on it’s own, as it is. Again, this is a facsimile.
“The Daily Howl” was Lennon’s homemade, hand-drawn school newspaper from his youth (around age 12-13), filled with surreal cartoons and nonsense verse inspired by Lewis Carroll and Edward Lear, showcasing his early wordplay and wit, revealing the roots of his later literary style in “In His Own Write”.
