Numerous publications used this approach to give the volume an artistic bent, in order to get away with showing pictures of beautiful women naked, and thereby avoid any potential obscenity charges. This particular issue has a brief note on the inside back cover which reads: "This publication is essential to the artist and sculptor who cannot afford the expensive fees for the live models in order to further their study." The remainder of the volume feature two ladies in various stages of undress, one blonde and one brunette. The blonde gets the centerfold. Plenty of stockings, garters and heels, and not much else.
