New York: Douglas Book Corporation, 1971. First Printing. Hardcover. Octavo. 173pp. Bound in white cloth with red spine titles. Red, white and blue page-marker ribbon. Illustrated throughout in b&w. A near fine copy in a very good dust jacket.
Part one is a scene-by-scene, image-by-image narrative of the film by Alejandro Jodorowsky, the direcrtor, star, writer and composer of the film. The second part of the volume is called Conversations with Jodorowsky in which he talks about the making and meanings of El Topo, the quest for spiritual illumination and its symbols, and his own future and past - in the course of which an interview is transformed into an act of visionary poetry. Those who are speaking with Jodorowsky are Ira Cohen, Steve Roday, Ross Firestone, Marty Topp, Susan Sedgwick and Stefan Bright. These conversations took place in New York in December, 1970.
