$2,995.00

Full title: Azoetia. A Grimoire of the Sabbatic Craft; Being a full and accurate transcription, compiled and amended by the author from the original manuscript of 'The Book of Magical Quintessence’

Chelmsford, UK: Xoanon Publishing Ltd, MCMII (2002). [Actually May 2003]. Sethos-Behena or ‘Black’ Edition. Hardcover. Octavo. Publisher’s black cloth with design of serpent and stang on spine with skull & crossbones and crossed set square design in silver on front and back covers. Black endpapers with snake-skin design, black silk page marker ribbon. The entire edition was limited to 77 hand-bound, hand-numbered copies, negatively-enumerated from -1 to -77, each one dedicated to the Averse or Shadow-form of Sethos, Sethos-Behena, The Patron Daimon of the Grimoire. This is copy No. -39. Included with this edition is an 8 page booklet in dark blue card covers entitled: The Rite of the Amethystine Light, Liber Sa-Bapho-Mitr, sub figura 77, A Conjuration of the Averse or Shadowform of the Daimon Sethos, the Patron of the Grimoire Azoëtia, hand-produced, hand numbered (No. 34, differing from the book). Some copies also came with a small snakeskin talisman but there is no talisman included with this copy (Chumbley made them as copies were sold, and likely passed away before he could make one for this copy). This copy has been inscribed in ink by Chumbley on the limitation leaf to a former member of the Ku Sebbitu (one of the lodges of the Cultus): "For Frater Sekhem Nah, By the Serpent's Cross and the Seven Stars, With blessing from Alogos", followed by a hand-drawn sigil of a flaming eye with gold highlights.  The book and pamphlet are housed in a sturdy black cloth slipcase with the Sigillum Azoëtia embossed in silver on both covers. With b&w illustrations and sigils throughout (all by Chumbley). All components in fine condition.

The Azoetia describes the ritual structure and formulae of the Witches’ Sabbath. While being in essence the Theory and practice of the Sabbatic Mysteries, it is aimed at unifying the myriad currents of all Magick by defining the subtle yet universal principles which underly and bind all Paths. Originally published in 1992 in a softcover edition of only 300 copies, The Azoetia is regarded as the foundation text of the Sabbatic Craft Tradition. The grimoire is comprised of three main parts: an exposition of preliminary magico-aesthetic formulae with detailed descriptions of working instruments, the full text of the Sabbatic Rituals of Ingress, Congress, and Egress, and an eleven-chaptered grimoire detailing the arcana and composite practices of the Sacred Alphabet - the twenty-two lettered code of sorcerous principles underlying the practical spectrum of the Arte Magical. The entire work intends the reification of traditional British cunning-craft praxis according to the spiritual vision and artistry of a contemporary initiate.
