[ANGER, Kenneth] Hollywood Babylone (True First Edition, 1959)
Paris: J.J. Pauvert, 1959. True First Edition. Square octavo. In plain beige card covers with pictorial dust jacket featuring a double dose of Jayne Mansfield (front and back). 247 pages. Text in French, hundreds of black and white photo illustrations. Some tiny closed tears to edges of dust jacket, otherwise about fine in like jacket. Increasingly scarce in the first edition.
Here is the first ever issue of Anger’s notorious work on the sordid scandals of Hollywood from the early 1900s through the 1950s. This first issue was published six years before the American edition which came out in 1965 and was banned within ten days. Due to a series of copyright conflicts, it was not republished until 1975.
