This famous grimoire was first published in the eighteenth century and went through many editions with content being somewhat different, depending on the edition. The edition on offer here includes more magical content than some of the other editions. It includes the sought after plate depicting the necromantic “Hand of Glory” (“Main de Gloire”) which is missing from several editions. Other plates depict talismans of the planets (and other talismans), planetary rulers over the hours of day and night, a circular chart of the sky, sigils and magic circles, and some generally odd imagery. Magic squares and a couple of additional sigils are sprinkled through the text. Caillet lists an identical copy (with the 6516 on title page) and notes that “this work, whose content is about the same as that of the Admirable Secrets of the Great Albert, is supposedly taken from the writings of Albert von Bollstadt" (Caillet 142). A delightful little volume which is a pleasure to hold and peruse.
