A superb biography of Zoroaster which, in the first part of the volume, covers his early life leading up to his moment of divine revelation at the age of 30 when the archangel of good thought, Vohu Mana, appeared in a vision and led his soul in holy trance into the presence of God, Ahura Mazda. These visions continued for some time and it took ten years of “wandering and struggle, of hope and dejection, of trial and temporary despair” before he found his first convert. The development of Zoroaster’s religion is then traced through conflict and struggle until it assumes its place among the Persian people. The second part of the book contains seven critical appendixes covering the origins of Zoroaster’s name, the true dates of his life, Zoroastrian chronology, his native places and the scenes of his Ministry, allusions to Zoroaster in older literature, and more.
