First Edition. Hardcover. Octavo. 398 pages. Bound in black cloth with red border to front and rear boards and gilt stamped device to front. Gilt titles and device and red striping to spine. Bevelled boards. With twenty-six illustrations including 4 full page color lithograph plates, and one plate in black and white. Index. Wear to corners and to head and foot of spine. Former owner’s bookplate to paste down, 1 former owner’s small ownership stamp, and additional owner stamp with address. Small old bookseller sticker to bottom of front paste down. Slight remains of a small sticker to recto of front free endpaper. Light cracking to inner front hinge but binding still holding. No markings in text. VERY GOOD.
